Washington, D.C. Taxicab Service
Taxicabs in Washington, DC determine fares by a zone system. Prices range from $4 for a single zone to $12.50 for an eight-zone ride. You'll pay an extra $1.50 for each additional person. A rush-hour surcharge of $1 is in effect from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. For more than one grocery bag or suitcase per person, there is a $0.50/piece addition, and larger objects will cost $2.00. Cabs can double the fare during snow emergencies. Because there is a $1.00 charge for radio-dispatched cabs, try hailing a taxi in a well-traveled location before calling.

Montgomery County
Taxicabs in Montgomery County are regulated by the Department of Public Works and Transportation and operate under established standards. 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Montgomery County issues licenses for wheelchair accessible vehicles that meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. There is no additional charge for an accessible taxicab. Accessible taxicabs should be requested in advance.

Senior and Disabled Taxicab Discounts
Three area taxicab companies offer a 10% discount to passengers 55 and over or persons with disabilities. Blue Top Cab offers a discount to older passengers who request the discount of the driver at the time of the trip. Red Top Cab of Arlington and Yellow Cab sell coupon books at a 10% discount that are used as fare and turned in at the time of the ride. Make reservations as you would for any taxi ride. Arlington Super Senior Taxi Booklets
Arlington County residents age 70 or older can save 50% on their taxi fare by purchasing ticket booklets that can be used on Red Top Cab of Arlington, Blue Top Cab or Yellow Cab. A $20 value for $10. Find out more.
