The Commuter Store provides residents, visitors and those working in Arlington with convenient, one-stop shopping for schedules, fares, and information about the many transportation options available in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The courteous and knowledgeable staff at our four Arlington locations will assist you in planning the best way for you to travel, whether by bus, rail, carpool, vanpool, or bicycle.
Convenience Fee: Please note that The Commuter Store adds a 25 cent convenience fee to the cost of WMATA products (Metrobus and Metrorail fares and SmarTrip cards). There is no convenience fee added for discounted fare media for seniors and persons with disabilities.
Many Washington, D.C. area employers participate in the SmartBenefits program. This program assigns transit benefits to employees' SmarTrip cards, which are accepted by the Metro system and many local transit systems. However, some transit systems, including MARC and VRE commuter rail, don't accept the electronic farecards. Employees who need their transit benefits applied to fares for these systems can set up a SmartBenefits Personal Account with CommuterDirect.com. CommuterDirect.com will then deliver the appropriate tickets by mail, or the tickets may be picked up at any Commuter Store location.
