Super Stops
Transit on Columbia Pike is booming! In approving the Columbia Pike Initiative in 2003, Arlington County committed to a strategic plan of transit improvements to provide better service and contribute to community improvement goals.
First there was Pike Ride - the enhanced services which brought, more places, more often, more Columbia Pike to 3 million passengers in the past year.
Next, streetscape improvements, new traffic signals and pedestrian crossings are being completed to allow safer access to transit.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Pike Transit Initiative is evaluating options for new long-term strategies and funding plans to implement future major improvements.
Plans are being finalized for enhancement of the bus station at Pentagon City Metro to provide better amenities and connections to Metrorail.
Metrobus will replace the current fleet of diesel-powered coaches with all-new Compressed Natural Gas low-floor coaches late next year.
As we celebrate the first anniversary of Pike Ride, Arlington is pleased to announce the next step of passenger improvements along Columbia Pike -Super Stops!

What will Super Stops look like?

When will you see the Super Stops?
The design phase will take approximately a year and construction will begin soon after. Pike Ride passengers will be kept informed of the progress of the Project and before you know it a stop will be in your neighborhood.
So remember, keep your eyes and ears open about the Super Stops! Additional information will be posted soon at www.CommuterPage.com/PikeRide
