U.S. National Arboretum - Once in a Blue Moon Hike

When:  7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Where:  United States National Arboretum, 3501 New York Avenue, NE, Washington DC
Who:  Ages 16 and older
Fee: $32 ($26 FONA); Registration required

What: Enjoy the rare occurrence of a blue moon at this special edition of the Full Moon Hike. Begin with a reception on the terrace with blue moon-themed light refreshments and music, and then take off on a vigorous 2-hour moonlit hike through the Arboretum’s gardens, meadows, and woods. This is a brisk walk with minimal stops over 4 miles of hilly and uneven terrain. Take home fun facts and folklore about the blue moon and a commemorative certificate that says you did it! Not recommended for children under 16. No pets, please. Reception sponsored by Friends of the National Arboretum. Program schedule note: Gates open at 7:15 pm; reception begins at 7:30. Register for either the 8:00 pm or the 8:15 pm hike.
