Teen Transit Advisory Board
The Teen Transit Advisory Board is composed of Arlington County teens in grades 8th 12th that have an interest in transit and want to be involved in making a difference.
During its first year, Board meetings were held throughout the summer and into the fall and winter. Meeting topics included:
- Introduction to Transit
- Transit Operations
- Research Results
- Marketing 101
- Conversation with Chris Zimmerman

The Board also identified barriers to teens taking public transit and decided to focus on the following:
- Lack of information
- Convenience
- Cost
- Peers
- Parents
These barriers match the results of a transit survey administered to Arlington Public School students in grades 8 11. The Teen Transit Advisory Board also decided on the iRide name to promote the teen transit initiative and helped to develop the marketing campaign materials.
