Confident City Cycling Class (CCC2)
Saturday, September 19, 2009
Want to use your bike to get where you need to go? Learn to safely share the road with cars, other bikes, and pedestrians. WABA and Arlington County offer two types of free Confident City Cycling (CCC) classes:
CCC1 is a classroom-only event. Participants will be provided with a written curriculum and will be taught; bicycle selection and fit, gearing and cadence, nutrition and hydration, proper use of accessories, bike handling, hazard avoidance, traffic law, proper lane placement, and simple bike maintenance. This class is a pre-requisite for CCC2.
CCC2 is an on-bike class. Participants must attend CCC1 beforehand (all classes before 2009 were CCC1), bring their own bikes, helmets, and water to learn simple maintenance and adjustment techniques, then practice bike handling and hazard avoidance skills and finally a supervised group ride on open streets with motorized traffic. Liability waivers will be required. Any participant under the age of 18 must download a waiver and bring it to class signed by participant's parent or guardian.
