Bikes on Metro

photo: bicyclists in Metro stationMetrorail: Passengers are allowed to bring bicyles with them on Metrorail during off-peak hours on weekdays, and anytime on weekends. Metro will sometimes prohibit bikes on the system on some holidays or special-event days when ridership is expected to be high. Bicyclists should enter the Metrorail car from the end set of doors (not in the middle of the car). There is no extra charge for transporting a bike on Metrorail.

Bikes on Local Bus Systems

More and more local bus systems are equipping their buses with bike racks. Taking your bike with you on the bus makes it possible to bike part of the way to work, meet your friends across town for a ride, get to a bike trail, extend your riding horizons,  or get home if you have a flat.

Montgomery County Ride-On: All Ride On buses are equipped with bike racks. Use of the racks is free and does not require a pass or permit. More information about Ride On's Bike Program is available on Ride On's Bike Program page.
