What is the Guaranteed Ride Home program?
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's (MWCOG) Commuter Connections has created the Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program to provide commuters who regularly vanpool, carpool, bike, walk, or take transit, with a reliable ride home when one of life's unexpected emergencies arises. Commuters can use Guaranteed Ride Home for personal emergencies and unscheduled overtime up to four times per year. Best of all, the ride home by cab, rental car, bus or train is free (excluding gratuity, fuel and insurance charges). As an added benefit to your residents, you can provide your own GRH program to supplement MWCOG's program.
How can ATP help? ATP makes it easy and convenient for you to inform your residents about GRH or establish your own GRH program. Ways in which ATP can help include: - Providing information on GRH and answering any questions.
- Providing promotional materials such as brochures, videos, and posters.
- Helping with the design and implementation of your supplemental GRH program.
How can I encourage residents to participate? There are numerous ways you can get the word out and encourage your residents to participate in a GRH program:
- Include GRH information in newsletters or new resident packets.
- Display posters and or flyers in common areas.
- Provide information on your community's Web site.
- Send e-mail notifications and reminders.
- Providing a supplemental GRH program.
